Ernest Gary Gygax
July 27, 1938 - March 4, 2008

Today, Wizard of the Coast was deeply saddened to learn that Gary Gygax passed away in his home at age 69. Gygax was the co-creator of the Dungeon&Dragons game. His innovation created an entirely new type of hobby that now attracts millions of players worldwide to face-to-face and online roleplaying games. Gygax was a grand storyteller renowned for his unique style, sprawling "Gygaxian" adventures, and the fantastic World of Greyhawk. He inspired generations of players, designers, and authors, and he will be sorely missed by legions of fans. We extend our sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

Gary Gygax, der VATER ALLEN ROLLENSPIELS, der eigentliche Begründer unseres Hobbys, der Mensch, ohne den es NIEMALS einen Rollenspielverein Biberach gegeben hätte, ist tot.

Mich begleiteten seine Werke, seine Ideen seit 28 Jahren. Ich habe ihn nie persönlich kennengelernt. Aber durch seine Werke, seine Spiele, die ich gespielt habe, ist sein Schaffen schon lange ein Teil von mir geworden.

Trotzdem stimmt mich sein Tod unerwartet trauriger als ich gedacht hätte. - Unser Hobby hat einen schweren (nicht den ersten, aber einen sehr schmerzlichen) Verlust erlitten.

Das ist traurig.

Über Unbekannte Urteile abzugeben, ist immer sehr subjektiv, aber ich glaube, er war verdammt froh, dass "sein" Spiel ihn überlebt hat.

Ein Hoch auf jemanden, der unser Hobby geprägt hat.

Ich dachte an Gary, würfelte, und... eine "natural 20"!
